Bob the Traveling Santa Voodoo Doll

Welcome to the first part of what will hopefully be a very long running, fun, and humorous project. Bob the Santa Voodoo doll is a weird gift I picked up at work from the workroom give-away table. The place where stuff is put when it is no longer wanted. I saw Bob, as I have have named him he has been named, sitting in his original shipping box and couldn't pass him up. He is pretty much the strangest thing I've seen in a long time.

Immediately, after discussing it with a few people, the thought occurred to me that Bob could be really embarrassing to be seen with, especially when it's not even close to Christmas time. So, of course, I needed to come up with a ploy to get as many people as possibly to, not only be seen with Bob, but to record this activity and put it out on the web for the entire world to see. Thus, the creation of Bob the Traveling Santa Voodoo Doll.

The idea is simple, send Bob to as many strange, crazy, weird, and wonderful places in this world as possible by sending with people to be photographed as they travel around the world. I have no idea how far Bob will get in his adventures, but I have already offered $100 to the first person to return with Bob and photo documentation of him sitting at the top most point of The Palm Jumeirah island in Dubai. I know, I know, there goes $100. I'm simply doing my part to make this fun and interesting.

The site where all this craziness can be followed consists of three parts; Bob's Adventure Journal, Bob's Travel Gallery, and Bob's Map. Use Bob's calendar to view his travel schedule and see if he is available for your adventurous travels. Bob's Adventure Journal is where the story of his travels can be read. Each separate trip will have a journey entry, a corresponding gallery, and marker on Bob's Map.

So, you know what's up now here's the rules/instructions.

  1. Take Bob with you on your amazing travels around the world.
  2. Photograph Bob in all the strange and wondrous places you visit. Suggestions:
    • Use the provided pins in Bob's handy pin pouch to attach many strange and indigenous items to Bob to better explain the locality. (If you do not know what indigenous means use Google. That's what the internet is for.)
    • Maybe try taking Bob swimming with Great White sharks. He loves the water and since he's doesn't breathe there is no chance of him drowning. An added bonus he won't bleed and attract the sharks.
    • He's a Voodoo doll so feel free to put him in dangerous and scary situations (just please don't destroy Bob).
  3. Return Bob to safety and preferably in one piece back to Andy with a digital copy of the photos documenting his wondrous travels and wacky adventures.
  4. Prepare a small written story describing where the photos of Bob where taken and what he was doing for the journal enrty.
  5. Regularly check Bob's photo blog to see a documentation of his amazing adventures.
  6. If Bob doesn't return from his adventures with you the following are some of the consequences.
    • Your name and photo will be posted on the final journal entry showing the entire world who is responsible for Bob being "lost".
    • The fun will be over and it will be all your fault.
  7. If Bob is damaged on his adventures it's no big deal. Either repair him yourself or return him for repair. Once again a photo record of his damages will be posted showing who is responsible for injuring Bob.
  8. If you are going on a great adventure and you don't live anywhere near East Texas (Bob's home) just contact us. If the adventure is grand enough we will ship him out to you. You will be responsible for return shipping (unless the trip is really, really, awesome and money is an issue for you, which is highly unlikely if you are going on an eligible great, grand adventure).
